do you install the fuel tank before covering so you can run the brace tube through the tank, or try to install later when its a bitch to get to with the fabric on? i`ve gotten the nylon straps glued on the fuel tank straps.

Kirk,
No, you don't have to have the tanks in when you cover. You can slip them in after cover, but, I put an inspection access right over the brace tube bolt on the outboard end of the tank to get the nut on.

You also need to rib stitch the fabric to the stringers which are under the tank. This is a LOT easier without the tank in place. You will also need to have the inspection access to be able to feed the aileron control cable through the tank and then install the anti chafing grommet for the aileron cable through the wing rib.

Another thing, IF you ever need to take the tank out for any reason, you will be happy that the inspection opening is there. You can make the opening any size or shape that suits you. Round, square or rectangular. Snap on cover, screw on cover or hinged. For example, I made some rectangular piano hinged doors with camlocks for access to the flap bellcranks. This gave me enough room for two hands to adjust and safety the flap turnbuckles.
