Aileron cable routing 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi All. Dumbo here again!

Has any one have some info on how the aileron cables are routed from the bottom of the joy stick to the pulley on the lower side of the fuse. There seems to be a bracket under the floor to hold something but I cant find any thing in the kit that fits. If you draw a direct line there definitely needs to be a pulley. Surely not fair leed.

Lets see if I understand the question right. Your aileron cables run from the bottom of the rear stick out to a [b]pulley[b]at the lower longeron. These pulleies change the direction of the aileron cable to go up the lift strut. (The cables pass through the fabric at that longeron point.) They follow the lift strut up to another pulley mounted at the lift strut attach point to the wing. That pulley changes the direction of the cable and sends it aft up into the wing (again through the fabric) and out to the aileron on top. Where it passes through the fabric on top of the wing is where you see another pulley and the aluminum pulley cover with a slot in it. So, Your cable runs directly from the bottom of the stick, under the floor, to a pulley at the longeron. Hope this makes sense.

The bracket on the floor may be your elevator pulley brackets you are looking at. Not sure what you are looking at on the floor.

Yes this is the spot. There seems to be something missing because this cable will rub on the floor boards. At the bottom of the stick are two vertical holes. Is there another fitting meant to attach to the bottom of the stick that would lower this take of point so the cable then clears the floor board, Because if there is then this is my problem and I cant find it.

Colin,
There is a "horn" welded to the torque tube pointing down. There is a large hole in it and a small hole in it directly below the large hole. The large hole is where the elevator cable passes through heading back to the rear of the plane. The small hole is where you attach the aileron cable tab. This is a tab with 3 holes in it. The center hole bolts to the stick horn. The outside holes is where the cables attach to. There is also a pulley bracket at this location on the torque tube. This is for the elevator cable guide pulley. Now, over at the longeron pulleies, the floorboard is cut out, a slot so to speak, coming towards the center of the plane. This provides clearence for the cables running up to the longeron pullies.

I have photos, I put one in my gallery. The other would not load, sent you a PM.

"This is a tab with 3 holes in it"

This is what I was looking for. Thanks for that. I was thinking that maybe it was a specific piece that I was missing but I have found them now. I spoke to Wayne just then and he has advised to make my own bracket and get that pivot point as low as possible to increase the effectiveness of the stick and this should give a beneficial result.
